Today I would like to thank everyone that had anything to do with the crop day. My helpers, the croppers, the coffee guys. You all made it an amazing day.

So here it is, we have raised money with 2 fundraiser event this year, Coffee For A Cause and A Helping Hand Autism Crop Day, together these two events have raised $5175 for the Autism Assoc Early Intervention Centre.

We are just amazed again at the generosity of all the people we have come in contact with while doing these events. You can see the donor list to the left, these people from near and far have sent packages from all over Australia, they have gone out of their way to help and for that I am truly thankful. Closer to home we have Fiori Coffee and 5 Senses that have been behind us 100% , Fiori setting us up for success with the [Coffee for a Cause ] coffee drive and 5 Senses delivering a coffee machine, setting up and supplying coffee for the crop day and yet more beautiful coffee arrived from Fiori. We are very lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Lis and I did up the raffles and sorted things for the crop shop yesterday. Thank you so much Lis for helping me! I couldn't have done it without you..

Raffles are valued from $180 up to $250 and in my opinion the crop day album will be priceless!

For those of you that can't make it to the crop day and would still like to help out you can donate through paypal, click on the button to donate.

Our target is $8,244.60 to make it possible for the centre to get everything on thier wish list. With coffee sales, crop day tickets and raffles we should be able to raise $6,500, we don't need that much more and that would get the centre everything they need to help these children at such a crucial stage in their development. Early intervention isn't just for the children, it gives us as parents the tools to help our kids all through their lives, we are their advocates, teachers and protectors and the centre gives us these skills as well as help our children to be able to get by in our world.

I'm going to do this a few more times before the crop because we do get so much wonderful help from our friends, people in the coffee and scrapbooking industry and the community.

To the left is a donor list, these are people that have already donated something to us for the crop day. Thank you so much, you are what make us able to have such a successful fundraiser. This year we are running a coffee drive and the scrapbooking crop day and because of that we have some great coffee items to raffle on the day like a Presso machine, this is so cool, we have one here at home and not only does it look good it is amazingly portable. Also the members at coffee snobs.com that donated the coffee to us to roast and Fiori coffee for being our roaster, every little bit makes a difference.

What we raise all goes to the centre, below is a list of things the centre needs and they will use the money we raise to buy to help the children at the centre and those children that will use and need the centre in years to come. We wish we could raise enough to give them enough money to get everything but we wont, they need $8,244.60 to cover their wish list.

100% of what we raise goes directly to the Western Australian Autism Association Early Intervention Centre, so if you want to help come to the crop day or make a donation. The crop day is June 23rd at the North Beach Baptist Church, tickets are only $25 and include lunch, morning and afternoon tea, there are raffles and door prizes.

This is what the wish list from the Autism Association Ealry Intervention Centre comes too.

I would so love to be able to raise this much for them this year, I have a two page list in front of me from Tasha the clinical director of the centre, I will publish some of it later today. This is equipment and resources that will be helping a child from the first time it is used and for a very long time after that.

As far as autism goes for me and those I talk to who are therapist and parents Early Intervention is the key, it is proven, it is so worthwhile and we can see the resources at work and the progress made.

From last years fundraising the centre bought some weighted jackets, Alec has one from the centre right now, his teachers are EXCITED, yes excited by the improvement and progress he has made in a week of using the jacket during activity time. Beacause they had the jackets we were able to trial it and I am buying one for Alec.

This is what it is all about for me. Such a small amount of money will make such a difference to so many families.

Things are starting to come in for the raffles, Annica, Lissy's sisster sent along a bag of goodies, Jen Hall has finished her album page and regina Murdoch sent along a fantastic package of books and supplies, I'm going to raffle this one of on it's own, everything is so yummy!

Fundraiser Updates

here are a few things that have been happening with the behind the scenes bits and pieces to do with the fundraiser.

there have been 38 ticket reservation
we are running a coffee drive from now until the crop, 250gr bags of ground coffee or beans will be sold to raise money, for more details see Cafe Grendel
Upstream Communities have been amazingly wonderful and have offered to pay the $250 fee for the church hall we will use for the crop
Would you buy a t-shirt? I am thinking of setting up a cafe press store to sell Helping Hand merchandise all year round
Donations of scrpbooking products are starting to trickle in, if you are an individual or store that would like to donate please email me!

2006 crop day report!

Last year we raised $1937, these are some of the things the Early Intervention Centre was able to buy and a letter from Tasha Alach, the Clinical Manager.

Tasha is so full of enthusiasm and love for these kids, she is the one that amazes me, I am hoping to raise $4000 this year, it isn't money for research it is money that will be used to help the children TODAY!

I can't stress to you enough how important it is to reach these children when they are little, today Alec speaks, socialises, goes to mainstream school (with an aide) goes to parties, has friends. Two years ago life was very different for us, nothing will ever be "normal" but it isn't about normal it is about teaching life skills, helping them fit in our alien world and things we take for granted to these children. We will never be able to repay the Autism Association EI centre what we owe them for the wonderful things they have done for us in helping Alec.

Here is a letter from Tasha, I am humbled by the wonderful ladies that gave so freely at the crop day, this is what you have done for us.

Hi Ali

The money raised helped us to get new furniture for our Early intervention Centre

It has helped us to set up our group room so that it reflects as kindy or pre-primary setting, so the children can learn to move around from one activity to another within the one room. We have set up schedules within the room so when given a coloured card ie red, they can move to the red corner and match the card to the pocket and then sit down in preparation to start working.

The furniture has helped us develop programs that can accommodate for more children. The children have loved the new centre and the staff have been so happy with their new furniture and group room storage so they can access resources immediately. The weighted blanket and weighted vest have proved a bit hit for children that seek out deep pressure and need extra weight through their bodies to remain calm. We have been waiting to purchase these weighted products for over a year- they have been a fantastic resource for both the children and staff.

I cant thank you enough for the support that you have given us. Your passion and drive helps us to move forward and develop new experiences for the children and staff of Early Intervention.

Autism Crop Fundraiser

You would have thought that by now I would have thought up a better name wouldn't you, but I have never been very good at titles and names... so to the point!!

It is official, we have set the date for the 2007 Autism Crop! June 23rd at the North Beach baptist Church.

So what do I want from you? I want supplies, old magazines, cutlery, crockery, tea towels, anything I can sell or raffle.

The favourite from last year was this big meat tray of SB supplies I did, it was a great deal, there was $250 worth of product on the tray and the tray almost raised $300 on its own! So even if you have 1 packet of anything or 40 packs and would like to donate please email me at autismcrop@gmail.com and I will give you my postal address.

If you are interested in tickets also email me, fliers will be ready for circulation in a few weeks but don't worry I will be reminding you about it every week from now until the crop!

They were so thrilled with what they were able to buy with the money we raised for the Early Intervention Centre last year, like any outfit they have an operating budget and that is for the bare necessities, so anything extra we can give them will make such a difference to the children.

This is Alec's last year at EI, the funds raised will be for equipment for the 2008 children, but this is something I can to give back and to help others at the centre as our family have been helped. EI (early intervention) is the most important thing for children with autism and this centre has done amazing things with Alec, so please if you can, lend a Helping Hand

What an amazing day! The fundraiser was fantastic and everyone had a great day, I am totally blown away with how generous the girls were, what we raised well and truly surpassed my expectations and we still have the album raffle on the go!

The Scarborough Baptist Church was a great venue and had a fantastic kitchen. I am so thankful to them for letting us use it, it was very comfortable and homely.

There will now be a 'next year' as this one was a great sucsess, next year we are aiming for a 100 scrappers so stay tuned for details!

And this is why I wore myself out, it was so well worth it

other great news, Joanne from The Scrapbook Shop in Ellenbrook has donated two packs for our raffles and is supplying 10% off vouchers for everyone attending the crop so thank you Joanne that is fantastic.

The gorgeous Suze Doyle is also donating a prize she will be doing a canvas, click on Suze's name to have a look at all her beautiful work on her blog.

I'm hoping to hear back from more shops and wholesalers this week, I would love to have loads of yummy things to raffle on the day.

Don't forget ALL the money we raise is going to the Autism Assoc, parents from the centre are supplying the lunch so everything you contribute through raffles and tickets is going to help the kids.. So come along and have a great day!

We have had to move both venue and weekend in the last few days as one clashed with another event and we have been offered a venue with a capacity of 100 at no charge. I will have firm details on venue and date by Monday and I will start taking bookings.

I have had pledges from several companies for product to be raffled so that is fantastic, as things come in we will be showing the product and who it came from.

Autism Crop Day Fundraiser
Sunday September 17th 10-6pm Floreat

Autism is a very lonely condition, both for people with autism and their families. People with autism see the world differently and have difficulty communicating. The Autism Association of Western Australia provides therapy and advocacy services to children with autism, their families and carers. As a not-for-profit organisation they rely on fund raising and government grants to maintain the services they provide. Alli Paterson, one of the 2005 Scrapbooking Memories Masters, is the mother of a gorgeous little boy named Alec - who has autism. As a way of giving back to the Autism Association, Alli will be holding a crop day in Floreat in Perth to raise funds to purchase equipment for the Early Intervention Centre. The event will include door prizes, challenges and raffles with all proceeds benefiting the Autism Association of Western Australia.

Tickets are $20 each and include tea, coffee and lunch.
